strange captivity

Posted by Rick (Toronto, Canada) on 28 July 2012 in Abstract & Conceptual.

A layered abstract taken within the aquarium of Sidney British Columbia, with hundreds of luminous little creatures floating in their strange captivity.

k@ from Paris, France

All the eyes the night have are silently facing you and his back, like feathers of some dream slowly falling from your eyes. What is that apricot round shaped thing ? A mysterious fruit of your original night shot !

@k@: I love your comments, Karine. I have a man in a red shirt behind me as I photograph these little creatures, and he is as fascinated by my fascination as I am by the creatures... and the apricot round thing? I can't remember! :-)

k@ from Paris, France

I was afraid you might find it too lyrical but i'm glad you like my wings when i feel to comment this way ;) And now, have a good sleep full of feathered angels... and apricots ;) Cheers, dear*

@k@: No way can I find anything too lyrical :-) ... I just love knowing that some people take the time to soak up an image and what it might mean on so many other levels, and that there are people here who are wired into the joy of sharing and aren't just motivated by the idea that comment amounts equal quality or validation. Thanks for being one hundred percent KARINE. Amen and a good weekend for you !

k@ from Paris, France

Ha, i got you whole ;) Sincere thanks, Rick. As you might have noticed (and despite i have tons of images awaiting) i post less just to enjoy the pleasure of watching & commenting. Lets me more time and freedom to just watch, and feel - that's the most important. 3 comments now that might sound too much so i leave you now but count on me soon (okay, tomorrow ;) It's a great pleasure to have met people like you here, Rick and a bunch of others we enjoy to share our passion with. Sleep tight***

@k@: A wonderful way for you to kick start my thread below this image, and I am rewarded already to capacity :-) Yeah, let's just keep it relaxed and REAL. Stridency and urgency are turn offs when they come attached to ego strings. I am a fan of the art form, and sometimes I get lucky enough to be a fan of the person taking the pictures! Yay.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Beautiful abstract image, well seen and captured Rick

28 Jul 2012 9:39am

@Doug: What I really wanted was just the luminous little creatures, but the room and reflective surfaces wouldn't comply so it had to become a layered abstract. Thanks, Doug.

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

@grouser: That was definitely the feeling of it, g man.

I like the mysterious nature of this image. The lighting is wonderful and the patterns interesting. Very creative.

28 Jul 2012 2:37pm

@Ruthiebear: Thank you. I liked the largeness of the space behind me, giving a depth to that blurry background.

Slackwater - Don from Spokane, United States

A fine capture of the light emitted by the luminous creatures. Good explanation to help us understand the picture. Nice one.

28 Jul 2012 2:46pm

@Slackwater - Don: Sometimes it is tempting to omit any text and just let the image speak, but you know me well by now... I'm a word man :-) Thanks a lot, Don.

Irene from San Francisco, United States
