Monarch butterflies mass prior to their long flights out of the Toronto area each Autumn.

@Doug: Some of the terms are "lek", "swarm", "rabble"... I rather like "rabble", though I took pains not to become a rabble rouser in these meadows ! Thanks a lot, Doug.

@Judy aka L@dybug: I always strive to get my shots and put the camera down so that I can be truly there, soaking it all up. Ha ha, when I first got into the whole DSLR thing about four years ago, I took pictures of everything. It started to feel like it wasn't "real" until I photographed it. @Mowgli: In these massive meadows that are off the beaten bicycle and jogging paths, I was all alone with the butterflies. An incredible visit and sense of space with a very big city all around but feeling so distant. Thanks !
@Mooie: So happy to share it, cheers ! This isn't from this year : I tried on three occasions to time my cycling visits for this event, and kept missing it. Next year I'm vowing to make a nice movie of it all, especially long range wide angle views that show just how many of these butterflies are out there.

Well, I certainly don't know and have never known the criteria recipe, so I'll just be humble and thankful once again and call it a true surprise, again ! The second that I begin to try to take "Spotlight" pictures will be the precise moment that I completely lose the joy of taking pictures :)
