Well, I'm told we have black squirrels in the UK but I've not seen them . . and this is something else !!

@Ronnie 2¢: A hybrid, maybe? Probably a strange form of transitional fur that I was lucky enough to see.

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

I thought black squirrels were only found in Princeton, NJ (or so Princeton would have us believe!) But have never seen one with a tail like this one!!! Happy ST

@Ruthiebear: Princeton will have to share the geography with parts of Northwest and Northeast USA and Northeast Canada, as well as the UK ;-) ... any time I have posted a pic of a black squirrel here, I have been amused by the reactions from around the planet of total shock. Most folks see the grey ones. The black squirrel flourishes in Toronto but as you leave the metropolitan areas you don't see them anymore. Must be lots of snacks for them here. Thanks, Ruthie.

Anna Cherer from LA ROCHELLE, France

A beautiful original specimen ! nice capture Rick !

@Anna Cherer: A little furtive behind that foliage, but I couldn't get a clear shot so this had to do. Yes, quite a tail. Thanks a lot, Anna.
