After The Flood

Couples enjoy the onset of nightfall from Toronto Island, finally in the aftermath of serious flooding that occurred earlier this year (hence the sandbags), in which many residents were affected and it seemed for a time they would lose their island homes.

I love your composition with the couples contemplating the city ! I also enjoyed this beautiful view ! I'm sad to learn that some people lost their Island homes, a so quiet and pleasant place ! the twilight colors and the couples give a romantic and melancholic atmosphere !

@Anna Cherer: Thanks very much, Anna. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and had a ferry ride across to the island, because for a time this year it seemed the ferries would be out of service for the whole Summer-Atumumn season. Compared to the horrible natural disasters that are taking place so often in other parts of the world, what happened here (although very upsetting for residents) was mild by comparison. I have a friend who has lived on the "Ward's" part of the island since the 1970s... his place is small and cosy; one has no sense that a big city is just across the water.

Perfectly-composed shot of this picturesque skyline!! So much romance is evoked here with the couples. I hope that the island residents are getting back to normal.

I wish I did some homework on Toronto before we went to Niagara Falls. It was a last-minute decision to visit Toronto and all we really got in was a two-hour bus tour through the neighborhoods. I can't believe how much construction has occurred since I was last there.

@Steven: Thanks for the feedback, Steven. Those bus tours are okay when you are pressed for time, but if you ever return here, let me know in advance and I will very happily give you an authentic Toronto visit. You'll need at least a full day, like I had with fellow AM3-er Ryan Hammond when he visited from Arizona a few years ago. I played a gig in Chicago back in 1996 and wished for more time to explore the place. Instead we had to suffice with a good show, a good meal, and a wild after-hours party at an industrial type place before we had to get ourselves to the next day's gig in Milwaukee. Construction is out of control here... mostly condo towers but some stupid-tall buildings are approved and about to vastly change this skyline. I'll post the changes as they occur.

Yes, many of us seem to be in times of unpleasant weather . . 'tis the way of things, I guess.
