Careful With That...

Posted by
Rick (Toronto, Canada) on 7 December 2017 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

My friend Reg is a sheet metal worker with large banged up hands, here proudly displaying his favourite camera. I liked the contrast between tiny precision technology and rough living tissue.

Denny Jump from Bellevue, WA, United States

Love your words here... the image is poetic - the sense of it all is so wonderful. Live those hands and fingers wrapped into the camera. A visual dream!!

@Denny Jump: All is one, as it was before the Big Bang, ha ha... thanks a lot, good sir.

Ronnie 2¢ from Atlantic Shores, United Kingdom

Yes, the contrast is there . . but so is the connection. Makes for a meaningful image.

@Ronnie 2¢: Thank you for seeing it the way I intended it.

Anna Cherer from LA ROCHELLE, France

Yes, I agree with you Rick ! In the first look I liked this contrast between these big rough hands, holding this small object delicately as a precious jewel ! Perfect B&W and lighting !

@Anna Cherer: Thanks, Anna. Reg is a hard-working and very skilled person, and his joy over this little camera was almost touching to behold. He spends most of his energy on his family, raising his children, and this camera and his restored "muscle car" are his only personal "toys".

He holds it delicately enough
and despite its size I suspect it is tough :)
Nicely executed concept

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

They may contrast each other here, but I think they complement each other as well, particularly when it comes to protection. Great use of light in this composition!

@Steven: Thanks a lot, Steven.

Don from Spokane, United States

They do make a very interesting combination. I also like the detail of your picture. A creative idea made into a fine picture.

@Don: My thanks, Don.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

An excellent contrast between the big hands and tiny camera. I recently got an iPhone X which is so thin that I can hardly hold it without feeling like I would drop it. So, I got a case for it that added some bulk to get a grip on.

@Steve Rice: Those smart phones are worth the extra protection cost, that's for sure. Thanks for the feedback.

Willem from Noord-Scharwoude, Netherlands

Very well photographed portrayed this contrast, b/w is a good choice.

@Willem: Thanks, Willem.

Your comments are spot on. His hands make so much contrast with the camera. Excellent.
