@grouser: Good eye, mister g : that "brick" is a veneer called Insulbrick that was in vogue many decades ago and now is a fire hazard and something to be removed and covered over.

Hard to believe that parts of Toronto can look like this given the resurgence the downtown is experiencing. It's like the reverse of the "flight from the inner city".
