Live-Work Lofts

There are only a few of these old warehouse buildings remaining in west side Toronto, zoned for live and work loft spaces and oozing character, not to mention possibly cockroaches ;-)

Always the coolest spaces when I was young back in the 60s and 70s.

That escape stair makes me think they have fire on the menu, too !

@Ronnie 2¢: Um, does Arlo have a passport ?

w.o.w. zoned for, but not on the renovation list ? My neighbor who bought the little mobile next door is renovating it with Habitat For Humanity (used building materials). He's like a joyful mad artist. Way fun to watch and get ongoing progress tours. Just a mobile but who what a backyard. Same as mine last post.

@Joyce: I've been in many of these relics, and some of the interior spaces are dramatically awesome and not a reflection of that tired exterior... and of course, some are awful and I wouldn't stay long enough for a cup of coffee let alone live there. Thumbs up for your neighbour !

Those fire escapes look intimidating! You have captured the desolate mood quite well.

Looks rather pathetic ! A great capture !

It does not seem like a very nice place...
Great shot!

I think they look rather cool but they look like fire hazards to me. To make them safe might price them out of the market for the average person.

Nice staircase too. I note the stop sign and the fact that you have to jump to the ground floor :)

What a great old building! You definitely don't see those much anymore.
