Big Ledge

One of my favourite and more dramatic sections of the Elora Gorge hiking paths that we frequent. I will post a future image with human scale added.

What a powerful image this makes . . can feel that weight overhead !

@Ronnie 2¢: They are very thick overhangs and large trees grow atop them along the way. I would estimate the "ceiling" height of that slab to be approximately 18 feet or more. Thanks, Ronnie.

The rock on the left is overwhelming and from the trees I get it oppressive.
A beautiful picture in b/w.

A very inviting path you capture here. Lovely

@grouser: This is far removed from the heavily visited downtown Elora portion of the gorge, and as such we feel like we have the forest and river to ourselves for the most part. It's a wonderful albeit not always easy walk, but worth the steep grades and caution during winter just to be a part of Nature in one of its more untampered with forms. Cheers.

A huge section of overhanging rock that is definitely dramatic. It's interesting that the trees close to it lean out except the one that seems to have hit the ceiling.

That is a huge outcropping! I would be afraid to walk under it. It looks like it could collapse at any time! A magnificent image.
