Pack the Festival

Toronto's wildly crushingly claustrophobically eclectic jazz and blues festival that packs 'em in per annum in The Beach neighbourhood... a sweet cacophonous multicultural sonic gumbo that also serves up humanity in all of its wonderful variety for the camera lens.

Harry from Apex, NC, United States

where's waldo?

12 Dec 2018 5:06am

@Harry: With Banksy at The Louvre.

Gérard from Allauch, France

We must not be agoraphobe!!!!!

12 Dec 2018 5:47am

@Gérard: Or claustrophobic.

Marjolein from Enkhuizen, Netherlands

Wow what a hustle and bustle, nothing for me.

12 Dec 2018 8:07am

@Marjolein: This is where photographs can be good enough to convey an experience.

Captain Guildive Ajoupa from Saint Nazaire.Pays de la Loire., France

En effet la fête bat son plein.

12 Dec 2018 8:09am

@Captain Guildive Ajoupa: It occurs to me that a swing set would be ideal for this festival.

Anna Cherer from LA ROCHELLE, France

To much crowd for me ;-)

12 Dec 2018 9:04am

@Anna Cherer: The zoom lens compacts the density somewhat, but yes it is certainly a popular festival as are most of the big ones here.

Libouton Martine from Bousval, Belgium

Oupssssss que de monde !

12 Dec 2018 9:10am

@Libouton Martine: By the thousands of dozens.

Hiro from Kyoto, Japan

They have music but cannot dance

12 Dec 2018 9:16am

@Hiro: Nothing a few dance lessons can't fix.

Shaun from Massachusetts, United States

You really capture the atmosphere here. The festival looks very well attended.

12 Dec 2018 10:33am

@Shaun: This one, Taste Of The Danforth, Pride Parade, Luminato, Nuit Blanche, Woofstock, Santa Claus Parade, TIFF... many festivals here and always jammed. Good for the city but perhaps not those who need elbow room.

omid from mashhad, Iran

A M A Z I N G !

12 Dec 2018 10:41am

@omid: Right on, man.

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

Playing sardines en masse :) Great street scene, though I think I might feel a tad claustrophobic there

12 Dec 2018 10:52am

@grouser: Didn't Ornette Coleman write "Sardines en masse"? *wink/grin* It's fun for a while, with many various types of music being performed on stages scattered the length of Queen street. Handily, there is a nice stretch of beach and lake nearby for those who need to take a break.

existenceartistique from Angers, France

Eh oui toute une foule

12 Dec 2018 12:02pm

@existenceartistique: Also a whole photograph.

beach from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada

I was there! My son lives in the Beach (not the Beaches he informs me!). I posted pics from July 29-August 17 of the festival. Loved it.

12 Dec 2018 12:19pm

@beach: I'm glad you had fun there :)

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

WOW! That is a LOT of people. Incredible street shot

12 Dec 2018 12:46pm

@Ruthiebear: Thank you, Ruthie.

Devi from Chennai, India

oof!! What a crowd here !! Sea of humanity as they see!!

12 Dec 2018 2:45pm

Steven from Chicagoland, United States

For a photographer, events like this are definitely a field day! But for the average attendee, they are surely overwhelmed by the crowds! An excellent PoV capturing this impact!

12 Dec 2018 2:47pm

Adela Fonts from Barcelona, Spain

Your picture drowns me! Very shocking!

12 Dec 2018 4:53pm

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

Wow, what a crush of people! I bit too tightly packed for my taste. ;-)

12 Dec 2018 5:38pm

Francisco Romero from Leon, Spain

A very impressive way to present a vanishing point! Perfect camera angle.
